Thermochrons are small, sealed metal cans containing a temperature sensor, a long-life battery, a clock, memory, a unique digital ID number, and communication circuitry. They can be programmed to take temperature readings at specified intervals. This "mission" data may later be downloaded into a computer for analysis.
